Odd crash

Well last week I was playin wow windowed and my PC hard locked. Now, I reset and that was it, put it down to my dodgy geil. Anyway same happened today. I left it and sound get coming back, going then catching up. Also I used alt tab, a while after the selection bar popped up (in single frames e.g. came on and it was as if it had froze). Anyway - I left this goin for a few minutes and it generally followed this pattern. I rebooted and the crash ocurred at 8:05 and at 8:07 in the event log I got this:

The driver nv4_disp for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

So I guess this is what happened last time - any ideas? Both times was with different drivers (96.XX and 97.92).

This was happening to me yesterday - same message in the event log too, though for my ATi card - I couldn't believe what appears to have been causing it... my HTPC (so not the same rig) had been set to wake up the main rig via Wake on Lan - it was constantly pinging the main rig to see check it was still awake (even when I closed the PC), and after a few minutes in Windows on the main rig it would just hard lock time after time. Rebooted the HTPC (this time without starting the software I use to boot other PC) and there hasn't been an issue since.

The chances of it being the same issue for you are very slim (I doubt everyone boots their main rig from work via their permanently switched on HTPC so it's ready when you get home!) but it does indicate that it's far from guaranteed to be the graphics card/drivers causing the issue.
