    Can't play dvds

    Everytime i pop a dvd into my drive everything freezes, the second i press eject i get normal function back.

    i've tried reinstalling the dvd drive, check cables etc, and cant for the life of me figure out whats going on

    the drives a liteon 6s160p if thats any use


    any ideas?

    Try turning off autoplay on the drive and see what happens.

    i tried that, didnt work


    i then stopped being a silly sod and chancked the jumpers. it's now set for being master and working fine

    some programs can cause that to like powerDVD

    bah, its stopepd again.

    it just seems to hang when i put a dvd in, i can move the mouse but cant use any programs, and everything comes back to normal instantly when i peress eject


    i uninstalled powerdvd, no differance

    How old is the drive? Does it play regular CDs? I had a similar problem which I solved by buying a new one. I hope you don't have to do likewise.

    It could be an explorer problem. What other programs do you have running? Zonealarm?

    its about 4 months old and plays everything else fine, just not dvds


    What other programs do you have running? Zonealarm?
    zonealarm, msn messenger, avg antivirus, skype, think thats it

    its not zonealarm doing it as thats new on here, it did it before when i had nortan
