mostly for gaming, a certain level of cpu power is plenty, no one need a quad core, or a conroe, maybe you're looking at around a x2 4800+ or something now being fairly budget and is MORE than enough for current games. once you pass a certain resolution and graphics settings quality levels are basically entirely down to gpu power.

also i thought i was being 100% obvious with the

There seem to be a few numbers floating around the net, I assume they will treat the one given in the article as the 'correct' answer, maybe we should get the winner(s) to count the transistors to see if that number is accurate
