Although it only saves power with crt monitors, so you might say no point, billions of people no duobt still have crt monitors. Lol at the betas site btw. Incidentally, I heard that white text on black is easier to read for most people, i prefer it for one tbh.

Pfft, global warming exists, yes, but its not going to stop because of our actions, but this is not the place to discuss that, I think people should be encouraged to use some sort of powersaving scheme on their PCs, like how I've enabled the "Cool & Quiet" function on my PC as I mainly only surf the net and chat on MSN.

I'm aware that a huge majority of people do not have CPUs capable of "Cool & Quiet" but, surely they can still enable some sort of power saving scheme, like HDD shutdown with the monitor after a while of being idle etc.

I think companies shuld be rewarded for making functions like "Cool & Quiet", why this hasn't been implemented for other components in the PC is an interesting question, perhaps for the GPU and hard drives? Just a suggestion, I mean, if you want to make a bigger impact, why not?

On the subject of global warming; I think we should focus our attention and money on counter-measures to the effects of global warming instead, like building flood preventitive measures in areas that are prone to flooding, for example.

Most modern GPUs run at significantly lower speeds when in Windows than when in games, which is effectively a power saving option. I think you'll find most PC components have a way they can consume less power and/or switch off when not in use, it's just a case of people enabling the options.

Too damned right. For firefox users... <inserts url> Seems I'm not allowed to post an url as I might be a spammer. <wonders if am allowed to work around this as I know I'm not, or if that would be a serious forum crime> Best not to for now. If you want to stop flash on your own firefox installs, google 'flashblock firefox'; the first few hits all lead to the right page.

Flashblock also cuts down firefox cpu usage massively for some users (possibly indicating a firefox bug, but that's another story).

    all flash ads.

    all^wmost flash sites.

actually most TFT drivers are constantly refreshing the screen, i don't know what colour would be best but it will be a 'grey' i'd of thought (remeber R\G\B is just a filter) that don't require a current to move the crystals, as most rest i belive somewhere towards the white end of things, some completely white, but i belive the newer ones don't (however a lot has changed!)
