The series has been following a downward spiral lately but I do hope it can get back to best. Tomb Raider is one of the classic series and Lara Croft one of the best characters. They'll need some new and inventive ideas though rather than the tired formula of old.
I'm thinking a new sidekick that you could play alongside Lara would be the best way or bringing something new. Could even pave the way for co-op!
Have you played Legend and Anniversary? I thought they were the best by far, although I guess you could argue that Anniversary is just a remake of the first one.
I'd love Tomb Raider even more if they would just sort out the rubbish combat. Something akin to Drake's Fortune would be great.
I'd played Legend but not Anniversary. I thought Legend was good, but despite the revamped visuals and audios, it still felt a bit repetitive and felt like something I'd played before.
I do enjoy the series though, just hoping for something a little more from the next installment.
I didn't like Anniversary, not on the Xbox 360 anyway. Thought it was a bit shabby.

Oh, shame.
I played both on PC, with 360 pad; no idea if there's any difference. Anniversary was definitely my favourite, since it kept the crap combat to a bare minimum. I have to admit tho, I never played the original. Perhaps if I had, it would have killed the experience somewhat.
I played the original. It was the first game I ever completed. Totally immersive and the learning curve was pitched perfectly.
Anniversary was a good remake and took advantage of new technology really well I thought. It was just as much fun as the original.
Having played it before and knowing pretty much what to expect didn't spoil the experience at all for me.
