Let's leave Nintendo out of it for the time being. Microsoft are looking to take the European market by the scruff of its neck in 2008, but will Sony and the PS3 do enough to steal its crown?

In the UK- not too sure.
If you consider the whole of Europe then it will be the PS3, I just think that the Sony name and performance of the PS2 all over Europe will lead to people automatically buying a PS3 as they come down in price.
Not around too often!
'claps hands and rubs them together'
Microsoft will still dominate sales in 2008 although the games on the horizon for sony are huge monsters!
The ps3 is picking up and will continue throughout 08, but i dont think it will be till the end of 08 and into 09 that the ps3 will really show it's strength, Once the developers get around the initial learning curve of working with it. There's room for both i think especially with all the cross-platform games, but saying that the ps3 exclusive games are turning out to be so much better than some of the (restricted) ported games.
Well the difference is here, it seems to be the trend at the moment, and i think it will carry on for the future, the ps3's being restricted, games like uncharted and ratchet n clank are really good games that dont suffer from porta-slowdown-titas.I dont think there will be any difference in the ported games (at the moment alot of ported games on the PS3 dont seem to run as well),

A lot of the ported games have been poor, but this is down to the developer. If they actually put a bit more effort into porting/coding for the PS3 then the quality would have gone up. I did see a comparison of the same game running on 360 & PS3 where they had different teams working on different platform. It showed that the PS3 can host great multi-platform games.
The PS3, like most console before it, will not show its best until well into the lifespan of the console.
As for next year, both corners have some great games lined up, at this moment in time, i like the look of what Sony are going to be releasing. My money is on Sony to take back a major chunk of Mircosoft's market. Both consoles have been selling like for like over the first year run, but with some great titles next year should help Sony a lot.
2008 will be the year of the PS3, and if Jeff Minter does a Space Giraffe port then I'd consider buying one.
What we share with everyone is glum, and dark...
I am staying away from the PS3. I have a 360 and a Wii but the PS3 just doesn't seem to "do it" for me. This could all change if Blueray becomes the HD format but I doubt that as well.

The last recorded week the PS3 outsold the 360 in Europe by I think 100k according to VGcharts.
