Their normal prices (like retail prices) are bad/terrible (and despite not including tax in the listing price, their UK and US prices sometimes differ frustratingly), but they've had some good bargains. Prey for $4.95 last week, X-Com: Terror From The Deep and Jagged Alliance 2 for $2.95 each one weekend, The Orange Box for however much it was. Some good publicity for lower-key games like Defcon, Uplink and Darwinia, too.

I've got to admit, I also like the Steam Friends list thing, where you can see who is playing what, and randomly join them to stalk them around TF2 maps.

Steam has come a long way since it started.

And the good thing with a physical copy is that you can sell it to someone on hexus when you've finished with it.

I think Steam is really taking off and a good catalogue of games is coming across to it now. Some of the prices of new high profile released are still expensive (COD4 etc.) and cheaper prices can be found just by browsing around the standard webshops.

Quite a lot of the package sales they do are good value for money though, such as the Orange Box, GTA collection and more recently the Unreal and Quake collections.

Same. plus one day when Steam dies... I can still install and play the games that I paid for... not that I'll probably want to by then

Re: 40 Ubisoft titles set to hit steam

I share a similar opinion to what's already been posted here. My Valve titles were purchased elsewhere purely because they were much, much cheaper than Steam's offerings. I've bought very little through Steam (Deus Ex and Earth 2160) and only done so because they were absolute bargains (and Earth 2160 didn't work properly outside of Steam).

From what I've seen, Steam is no different to any other digital distribution system, with regards to pricing new titles, and the only benefit I see is that you occasionaly get them a lttle sooner than the official release date.

I'll continue to purchase physical media (I still do so for music) whilst it's available for less money - I also don't fancy not being able to access my purchases if the company pulls out or I can't access the net.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good
scaryjim: 10" is just a little large to hold comfortably in one hand, which makes it a lot harder to tap, swipe and generally interact with.
