Easier to get one model then change the hard drive over when you fill it up to like 250GB, can get a drive from Scan for about £45 ...
Not around too often!
will these new 80 and 160 gb sku's have backward compatibility...?
ahh so it will have the same software emu as the usa's sku's right!
i assumed, that these would be the same as the 40GB (no backward compat, and less USB ports etc) but with bigger drives...
On all the sites i've seen the 80gb will be exactly the same as the 40gb version except the bigger hdd and a dualshock controller instead of the sixaxis.....
i have a feeling that is the case...no back compat ....
it does still have the back compatability for ps1 games but ps2 are a no go, same for the memory cards. these new ps3s are just 40gb versions with the hdd and controllers replaced. if you want back compatability why don't you try and get a 60gb ps3? i've recently bought one off ebay..... lightly used (wouldn't have known if the seal on the box hadn't been broken), the warranty hadn't been registered and was bought this april meaning i could register it under my name and get cover till next april!
that might be an option...how much did u pick urs up for? i guess it's not too much of an issue as i've got a working PS2, but it would of been nice just to been able to play em all on one machine, and have a newer one with whatever hardware revisions.
I got mine for 390 inc. p&p, the guy was kind enough to also throw in the dvd remote for free i've seen them go for about 370 but they normally only have 6 months warranty or sometimes less. it is much more expensive but i'd rather get rid of mine ps2 and have all the functions that the original ps3 was meant to have. sold my ps2 for 40 quid so it not only did it bring the price down but means i only need one console on my desk now
