Not at all, it was just the usual iPod refresh, new version of iTunes, new firmwares, and some new iTunes content. The usual basics, only without "one more thing". Looks like Apple was desperate to put together enough to make a full show.but do the announcements live up to pre-show hype?
I'll think about using Itunes again when they get rid of the stupid amount of processes it insalls on my computer - until then I'll stick with Winamp thanks!
Suprised they are phasing out 160gigers though? Ipods are only going to get really interesting again when flash memory is cheap enough to make larger pods at cheaper prices.
Typical Apple, big hype, when really analysed, nothing too special. I guess they are leaving their new Macbooks for another month.
It might be time for me to upgrade, although my 30GB 4th gen iPod is nearly full, the 16GB touch is within my grasp. However, the new nanos are quite smart looking. Might just get one of those for 'on the go' and keep my 30GB for my car.
Thing is how much can you innovate an iPod - you have a series of products which have different features you can't simply put all the features in the same SKU or there is little point in having a line up.
So question is what would you change?
I don't really like iPods. The last I had was an iPod mini.
The battery was not good. I spent so much time charging the thing up daily it didn't last long.
I bought a Sony stick instead. Much better. Although the volume was capped, noise reducing earphones sorted that. And it only needed charging once a week compared to the iPod's daily charge.
I just think that the iPod is just designer crap made to look good above everything else.
What if they had kept it at the same thickness which was slim anyway and add a decent battery?
i used to be annoyed at the old ipods with only 8 hour battery life and having to charge them everyday so i never brought one and got a sony 20gb instead. but about a week ago i won a ipod nano 4gb which has 24hour battery life and is great imo. i used to hate ipods but now i have a relatively new ipod i like it. my music collection atm on my pc is 4gb so i have just about filled the ipod nano i won.
im just annoyed the new ipod nanos are just £9 more and double the capacity lol
if the ipod touch 32gb goes down in cost i may get one of them at some point.
BTW volume capped how loud do you need it!!?
people use to complain about the sony's volume capped but at full so called "capped volume" i can hear it without the headphones in my ear. so the cap is there to prevent damage to your ears!
It was alright in quiet places. But as soon as I got on the bus, the noisy engine of the bus would drown out the music. The noise cancelling earphones blocked outside noise.
Noise cancelling earphones are good for battery life because you don't have to keep turning up the volume to drown out old grannies moaning.
