Awesome but ridiculous.

Modders are brilliant if a little mad. I would love to have had a go at this but probably would have wasted at least twice as much money than he did.
I gave up on a quiet PC a while ago, I found it cheaper to buy louder speakers.

I have a completely passive PC.

Built inside a mCubed case, had it for ages now, must be at least a year... in fact is was when the AM2 4200+ EE was first released (and I mean first released)

Just re-built it with a new 780G motherboard motherboard and put the hard drive in a noise reducing enclosure. PSU is silent and passive too (http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=137420).

Works well as a HTPC

I can still hear the hard drive, but only when everything else in the room is off (my N5200 NAS box is much louder). If I replaced it with a newer quieter drive I probably wouldn't hear it at all, but it is a spare 400GB WD RAID drive I bought a while back.

How hot? Doesn't seem very hot, not taken temps but I can put my fingers on all the components.
