I thought the most wasteful aspect of my motherboard was the plastic stickers that they had over the memory slots and various other things which told me about the amazing features that the board supported... having bought the damn thing I hardly needed to be convinced further that it was the right board for me.

The million dollar question is: will Asus follow suit and use 2 oz copper PCBs on their future motherboards or will they back their play and stick to the cheaper PCBs? Time will tell...

I think ASROCK has missed the point completely and clearly have nothing better to do than attack GIGABYTE.
Maybe ASROCK is feeling a bit lonely, or maybe they feel upset because there were not the first to have introduced this.

I doubt that the extra 2oz Copper will cause such an issue to the world in terms of going ‘GREEN’.
I believe that the purpose for the extra 2oz of copper is to allow for better Cooling/overclocking/performance.

If what GIGABYTE say is true, and the extra copper does indeed make the board more thermal effective, then in the long run the benefit will be good for both the user and the environment.

Is ASROCK’s only concern a ‘WASTE’ factor!!!
I wonder what ASUS will say/do!

I do agree with MilkMan. "Second oz" of copper is really nothing compared to amount of copper used in some big cooling systems (heatpipes, radiators) on mb's chipset, CPU or VGA. This accusation has just no sense.

It was very good question. In fact Asus started using 2oz PCB look at:
    http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_I...9zK&templete=2
if you click on the first picture then you will see "2oz Copper PCB" written there...

Looks like there are more: the new P5P43TD and P5P43TD PRO also show 2 oz copper on the PCB - sorry too new on Hexus forums to post links and pics

I don't necessarily buy that. I can settle with the one who are the least bad. The difficulty of course, is to measure each parties 'green credential' for comparisons. It would be great if we could though. Competition brings innovation, and I can think far worse than competing for a greener future.
