It's the typical stereotype, and I've noticed it as well, so you're not alone in that

Re: News - Apple seeds Mac antivirus market

I don't hate macs but what I do hate is the arrogance that seems to be attached to the more hardcore mac lover/user whos id convinced of their superiority... they are more anal and evangelical than your typical linux extremist unyet the linux user is considered a "geek" and the mac user not. Thats what advertising can do for you.

It will be nice to see apple display a little bit of humility over this...

There is very little difference between a mac and a PC, heck a mac is essentially a PC underneath all that bravado.

Time to change your marketing strategy Apple.

i agree with Zadock although i have to say when im using my mac i do actually feel that superiority complex washing over me, right now im thinking about how much cooler i am than you

Its ok though i have a linux box too so im a complete geek

The thing about the marketing strategy is that it works, so it wont change.

    Ahh yes.

That's what the internet needs - another thread about Macs vs. PCs.

Back to the original topic - I've just installed Sophos AV on my office Mac, because we have a site license anyway. It can apparently also remove windows viruses, so if you have a pendrive infected with a windows virus, you can just cram it into a Mac and it shouldn't cause any pain

(Disclaimer: I'm not a fanboy of any kind, I use a Dell Optiplex and Apple Imac at work, and a WinXP system at home)

Can threads getting on for nearly 10 years old not get locked?
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

They can , but usually they fall into obscurity. Sometimes they can be resurrected for good reason, and sometimes thread resurrection can be an indicator...
