One thing that really catches my eye is the use of new anti terror laws being used for trivial things all over the place willy nilly.

God help us all, this bloody nanny-knows-best-government.

All he wants is some good publicity to look good for the ignorant. We're going to end-up like bloody Australia if this carries on.

Re: News - UK MP wants to police the Internet

if my anti-terror you mean 'anti-terror' i dont believe for one second they ever intended to use them solely as laws to aid int he 'fight against terrorism' these things where brought about so they could trickle our rights away bit by bit and create a totalitarian state.

Or maybe im just too much of a conspiracy nut

Not if you count elderly men heckling Tony Blair being arrested under anti-terror laws. The trouble is it's very much a case of the stable door now the horse has bolted. :|

LOL, you dont even need to read the whole article, I'll quote the most important lines:

Burnham shared his discovery that the Internet is "quite a dangerous place".
He seems to view the Internet as a lawless pit of immorality and he's not about to just stand by while our souls are corrupted.

Re: News - UK MP wants to police the Internet

If I remember the face correctly this was the guy that was interviewed on News24 in relation to the Ross, Brand radio show scandal. One of his comments, live on air went something like:
'It's disgusting. The BBC has no right to make programs that offend anyone"

What ? How the hell do you do that ?

In short the guy comes across as someone totally out of touch with reality, any reality.

Ditto the concerns over some uses of the 'anti-terror' laws.

If this happens (which it probably won't). Then I'll just buy a virtual private server in America, connect to it and browse the web from there.

Re: News - UK MP wants to police the Internet

So, what about the real problems? Isn't it about time the Government tried to deal with Drugs, Crime and the economy? Really, they are the main problems in England and the Government are just trying to take no notice. They can't. The economy is extremely bad, the pound is now the same as the Euro. We can't adopt the Euro because we have to much national debt, what can we do? Oh yea, stop browsing the internet on a laptop you're about to leave on a train and get a grip on the real problems. Don't try and ruin our fun, the internet is fine. Most dodgy sites have been caught. How will they do this, another question? People younger than 18 still buy alcohol and cigarettes and they'll find a way to by-pass the stupid age limit on websites. It'll never happen!

Oh indeed, I believe in legalizing all drugs, making them available through the NHS. The rates of crime will drop dramatically and we'll be better off
