    Re: News - Seagate takes swipe at Western Digital: announces 'proper' 2TB drive

    I used to trade in hard drives. The first deal in which I sold 1000 drives was the Seagate ST351A/x - I also knew someone that had a 120Mb at the time - though I thought he was showing off - what could you want that amount of storage for?

    Your best bet for data security is to go RAID, but make sure its a proper RAID, not 2 disk stripe RAID 0.

    My hard drive analogy:

    IDE = 4 cylinder engine
    SATA = V6
    SCSI = V8

    If you are really that worried about your data, you will have to go SCSI, (or FC).

    IDE was designed for 12 - 15% usage, (reading and writing 24/7)
    SATA was designed for 45 - 55% usage, (reading and writing 24/7)
    SCSI was designed for 95% usage, (reading and writing 24/7)

    Final thought. Hard drives fail.

    Very true.

    But dude, stop pimping your own services. We don't like that on here, and you wouldn't want the ban hammer would you?

    You've been reported.
