Re: News - Virgin Media reckons speedtests are still misleading

I'm actually convinced Virgin are just pure evil. I coughed up for a 10mbit connection to share between a couple of computers in my house that would be running at the same time. I think I could count on my fingers how many times I have actually ran at 10mb.

Most of the time I'm throttled back down to the 2mb speed I upgraded from.

Today is a great example. Whilst writing this I am downloading at 65k/s. I understand that Virgin arent responsible for this download because its not coming from them. Problem is that the 65k/s download is slowing my 10mb connection down so much that I had to stop the download to get this page to open properly.

I would cancel if I knew who else to move to.

Got a BT line? Check out SamKnows and see if your local exchange has LLU or Be/O2 available there and see how far you are from your exchange.

Thanks, I'll check iit out. My BT line hasn't been used in years. It'd probably need to be refitted or somethin to allow for any kind of braodband. Still, I'll check it out. I hate forking my money out to Virgin. Their customer service calls cost £1 per minute!

Freephone on Be* iirc and O2 isn't that expensive either.
