I agree cptwhite, I'm now seriously considering this for a new build over the i7 920 because of the massive gap in overall price (mobo and ram are WAY cheaper too) and keeping in mind this processor is the equivalent, in performance, of the Q9450 then it is a seriously good deal!
The i7 920 and the Phenom II 940 are just about even in gaming performance...
The price cut will benefit the consumer and hopefully will sell more units for AMD. At this price point, I believe that AMD provide the best bang-per-buck for quad cores.
Even if you plan to overclock (obviously Intel leads the way here), i personally feel that I would still lean towards an AMD quad core due to the overall cheaper hardware. The higher overclocks that Intel can give you and its more expensive hardware components do not outweigh the AMD price/performance ratio.
