I never pay full price for games anyway. Always wait until prices drops/I can get it second hand. Not that hard, and for PC games, I have the added benefit of not needing the latest GFX card to play at the resolution/quality I want (odd exceptions aside).

I doubt the NVG with COD MW2 would be much good - the game costs over 50 so that leaves about the same for the goggles...
Anyway, who fancies paying £59.99 for HALO ODST with a limited edition controller and beta access?

Not sure, the one I noticed was on the 360.

Not interested then, no matter the price (The non-limited edition one seems to be going for £30).

PC games are certainly a lot cheaper than they used to be - I remember paying over £40 for the likes of Wing Commander 3 and Strike commander back in the 90s. Now I get most games new for £18 or £25.

I'll probably pick up the special/collectors edition of ODST.

And all this after that Activision guy bitched at Sony to drop their prices or they would stop making games for PS3.

I can't say I am happy that games will go up in price.

But I'll pay around £15 for a Blu Ray movie. 2-3 entertainment max. Maybe more if you watch it again.

But video games can offer a lot. My latest Fallout 3 games save has clocked up at around 83 hours. Taking into account this is maybe the 4th play through I have had where I have completed a lot of it.

Oblivion was a lot of hours of entertainment as well. As was GTA 4 and Neverwinter Nights 2.

I think it will make me think it through a lot more before buying a game. But when the next Elder Scrolls game comes out and it gets as well recieved as the last then I can easily see myself paying that kind of money. I don't buy a lot of games anyway.

Re: News - Videogame prices set to rocket this Christmas - £54.99 anyone?

Prices up? They're already more than I can stomach!

That said I've just pre-ordered ODST for £60 with the controller - but then I expect to play that for many hours and I need another controller so there's value for me.

Thing is I bought a 360 for Halo 3 and have played many, many hours which continues to justify the price of both my Live account and the box itself. I even buy addon maps which shows if you get a game to players for a good price they'll pay for updates IF it's any good.

Would I buy a game for £60? No because despite my purchase above I've not bought just a game but a £25 peripheral as well.

Only mugs or the excessively rich will pay £55 for a game. I noticed you mentioned fallout 3. I paid less than £14 for it on steam on a half price offer. I don't have enough time to play many games these days so I can now just sit back and wait for the silly steam offers like that and end up paying vastly less for my games.

Thats provided you want to wait, as previously mentioned you can easily squeeze more than the moneys worth out of games. CoD4 is still £30 in most places and if youve not already played the game then yeah of course its worth paying that price and i doubt the majority of people on here who payed the 'full-price' would dis agree.

Would be worth mentioning that many places online still have the normal price online for pre orders that are due out Q3/4. So just in case if there's something you must have order now.
If prices go up you'll feel good. I'll just wait for them to drop though, still have loads of games i don't get to play that'll keep me going.

I bet the £55 is the RRP.

So as already said it probably will not be that much in the shops. I'm not rich. It's just very rare I will go out and buy the game newly released. Normally when I buy games they are a lot cheaper or when I have an old game to trade in.

But when a game like Dragon Age comes out I can probably see myself buying that brand new. I can not see any other games that will be out next year I will buy brand new.

I wonder if putting up the prices of games will anyone any favours though.
For games I like I want their creators make money on it so they continue to make these games. Which is why I buy Fallout 3 DLC.

But I bet that prices going up will effect review scores. Because as it stands now, a lot of games are not worth the £30.00 price tag they ask for.

Prices up + people with less money = Pirate software becomes more appealing....
