And here I am using a boring old HP with a P4, 1.5gig of ram, a VGA monitor and XP... sigh...

So you have a PC/Monitor all in 1, which no doubt has a bit of weight to it, held upright by a motorbike-esque kick stand. Thats a good idea.. These boffins, what will they think of next.

Personlay I think this is a good idea. Few people need a big tower PC to do there work these days, but a huge number of office workers use them anyway wasting a lot of space.
Upgradeability is hardly an issue these days, now that the latest Microsoft Operating system does not need any more RAM than the previous one, so why should people not use a simplified and space saving all in one system. It is either that or a laptop.
