Go have a look at what hardocp found out about nvidia's phyx from their batman article. ATI card with a phyx card did better than the NV card.
They should have kept selling AGEIA cards tbh and stuck with an open physics standard.
If you remove your green/red spectacles for a moment, this could be a logical step forward for all graphics cards to follow. With both AMD and NVidia claiming to embrace open source solutions for physics rendering I can't think of a better use for outgoing technology than to use it to supplement new generation solutions for the benefit of the consumer. If all graphics cards shipped with a 'standardised' physics chip I, for one, would be delighted!!!
