I get what he's saying, cash is always more versatile than a voucher/MS points and he's right, especially if you're hard up and every penny counts. But for me the savings I get as a result of the points system far outweigh the annoyance of having a couple of quids worth of MS points "change" sitting around. Perhaps if I didn't buy them at a discount all the time I'd be more annoyed but it doesn't bother me really.

there is also the "young-uns without credit or debit cards" factor too. they can buy a box-o-points from a shop and then use em online

Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?

To be honest the MS points can stay. If I had to pay lets say £10 for Battlefield 1943 on xbla or I could pay 1200 points when it came out, the points work out better. As knox has said it you look around the likes of ebay or code selling sites or zavvi they are always throwing 2100 point cards for anything from £10 - £12 which is cheaper than the MS £17.50 they want you so you get the game for less in the long run

I do usually buy boxed ones as like Knoxville they can usually be found quite cheaply, but sometimes buying them straight form the store is quite convenient.

Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?

I think MS points are a good idea myself for lots of reasons (some of which have already been mentioned): people without cards can go buy some from a shop, you don't need to store your card details with your XBL account and so on. Also I worked out the cost of 400/800/1200 point purchas ages ago - £3.33, £6.67, £10.00 to the nearest penny respectively (if you pay £17.50 for the card that is). Maybe a separate buying option would appeal to some people.

Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?

Never bought any MSPoints myself but have won a few through competitions so I'm going to have to say I much prefer the points option
Especially when you come across such deals as the £7 for 2100 and so on.

Re: News - An end to Microsoft Points?

I'm another fan of the points system, even if it is just because you can pick up some good deals on cheap points now and then.

I can't see them changing the current system for the time being. I works well and I'm sure it's making them plenty of money. I can't see MS being all that bothered that a few people are moaning that the system is misleading, not that it really is.

If they do convert our points back into currency, it would be interesting to see how much I will get for my 6000 odd points that I have on the account at the moment. I would hope it would be a lot more than I paid for them, otherwise I'd be rather miffed.
