I really don't think i would be that bothered if the BBC introduced ads, it works for the other channels and they have some semi decent stuff, and if i'm honest i don't think i would miss any particular programme from the BBC if they switched it off altogether. I may be a tad bias as i generally don't watch that much TV, i think most of the broadcasting is pretty rubbish at times regardless of channel.
I like having a big TV, i enjoy watching films on my telly - for that reason i would never get rid of it. However i'm really not pleased about having little choice but to pay extra for a service i really could live without.

No objections to the license fee myself, doesnt represent that good a value, but is tollerable largely due to iPlayer and with stuff like Doctor Who, decent news coverage and looking forward to the decent F1 coverage again too.
With all this recent talk of them cutting back and making savings etc tho. This is a monumental PR fail imo.
Except you don't actually need a Tv Licence to use iPlayer (yes really!):

License fees should be scrapped.
Govt. should fund BBC NEWS, BBC1 and BBC2 and scrap BBC3 and 4 - which are crap!
Plus, BBC doesnt have any decent shows! Hustle is the only one I look forward to.
I dont even watch TV - I download my shows and watch them.. kinda like a personal TV schedule
MON - STARGATE ATLANTIS

Why should I pay for something I dont use?
not watched live TV in years, having to pay for a tv license pisses me off
just been reading that they've spent nearly 2 billion quid upgrading bbc central and doing the new bbc centre up here in manchester - how do you even burn through that much money without someone going "'old on a second lads, we're being 'ad 'ere!"
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/03...bbc3_bbc4_why/Those buildings again, as this really is an astonishing expenditure on the public dime, that not even professional Beeb-bashers seem to have noticed. The Salford Quays megacity comes in at £877m, housing just 2,500 staff. It isn’t really near anywhere, but the plan is for it to become a "destination". The Broadcasting House renovation was no better, coming in five years late at well over a billion quid. As the Audit Office drily pointed out: "The BBC is not well placed to demonstrate value for money from the £2bn it has committed to spending on the three projects over their life."
hold on they just said they where cutting services... but asking for more money?
Imagine going to the supermarket, paying more at the till then you expected then the people on the till taking stuff back off you....

Got imagine having to watch F1 with adverts!! oh yeah we had to put up with ad breaks when they ITV had the rights and the ad breaks usually where right in the good bits...
I don't mind paying for a TV license as long as BBC produce quality content (horizons, top gear and anything else i usually make time to watch), eastenders (so i can have 30 mins without the misses nagging) and live sports although with sports i don't like it when BBC pay over the odds for tv rights.
A rise when they are shutting down Radio 6 and Asian Network? Pffftt, not on my watch. Strongly worded email here I come...
