    omg love it,

Nice board for folders, shame the name is crap. Super Record ??? Guess the 2 is cos you won't have two pennies to rub together after you've paid out for this, a large case and two cpu's etc.

EVGA have only themselves to blame for the name as they chose it themselves, as this one wasn't even an entry in the naming competition.
At least they still gave out the board as a prize. I wonder how many will be produced as the market can't be too big, the extreme extremist or would that be the extremierist ??

    Help me understand why.
It's a hobby, just like sport.

To be fair, if you want a folding machine, you'd get any other quad PCI-e motherboard out there to do it for a heck of a lot less. Folding (or as I prefer, BOINC projects) benefit more from GPU acceleration for scientific research than having 24 threads in a machine, especially when the Xeon CPUs cost £1k each.

This board is purely for overclockers, and breaking overclocking world records. To use it for scientific simulation is just a joke, and expensive.

DOES IT OVERCLOCK REGULAR (NON EXTREME) XEON VERSIONS I.E. THE 2.66 6 CORE ONES!?!?!?!?! AND CAN IT REALLY USE REGULAR DR3 RAM (DESKTOP) WHILE DOING SO!?!?!!?

    COULDN'T FIND THE ABOVE OUT
OMG CAPS!!!!! Seriously though, no. You need the Dual QPI connect processors (the Xeon variants of Gulftown) to get them to communicate with the RAM and each other. Normal Gulftown/980X won't work.

I know there are seven slots, but you need one for a graphics card
the intel chipset issue is with the smbus on consumer grade intel chipsets. as fas as i can tel the x38, x48 and x58 never had a problem with percs. only ever the p , q and g series. since this baord is based on the 5520 chipset it should have no problem whatsoever

looks like you can fit 7 cards in there if you custom build a box for the gfx cards to go in and use pcie risers

Re: News - EVGA launches e-peen exploding Classified SR-2 motherboard

If the MSRP is $599.99, £400 seems very optimistic.
Just the exchange rate and VAT come to £466, ignoring any possible increase in price due to import to europe. Probably looking at £410+VAT at least. Seems absurd for a board, but if you can afford two 980X CPUs then let's face it, £410+VAT for a board isn't going to hurt very much

7 watercooled single card GTX295s would work nicely.

I'd like to know if that machine actually can fold, or if it was just put together for the picture, even with that fan pointed at it I'd imagine those cards would be running dangerously hot.

Re: News - EVGA launches e-peen exploding Classified SR-2 motherboard

That case the xtremesystems article shows isn't a case, it's a wind tunnel!

Still, that's a proper workstation class motherboard rather than pointless bling.. I do wonder how much server motherboard competition it has at that pricepoint, though. It's not really an enthusiast product - anyone using it either has large amounts of cash and/or the need for serious number crunching above what most enthusiasts do.
