Apple just immensely popular, or playing the "keep it scarce, create more demand" game ?
I say this as an ipad owner
- but I also have an iphone 3GS, and am not rushing to upgrade it.
Does anyone else think this whole iphone obsession is ridiculous.
Someone tell me what is go great about the iphone that it demands all this fuss?
What will it do to my life that makes me have to have one?!?
My Blog => http://adriank.org
it will get you laid and cure all ills. that's why all the chinese people are spending a week waiting in the streets to buy one
if people have to wait another week for apple to provide decent stock to stores then i'm sure there will be a lot more suicides. it's unreasonable to expect people to wait a week to buy a new phone
Love it - iPeen, iCon, inolife......
I have a friend who has a iphone 3gs, and don't get me wrong, its a nice phone -
but...
What does your iphone do that the HTC desire doesn't do, or other good touch screen phones!
What is the big selling point of the iphone..
Is it that is costs twice as much as anything else
Is it that it has limited web browsing function
Is it that it has limited media file type support
Is it the 200,000 apps available - that 199,990 are rubbish
Do people feel better when they have an iphone. Do they think your penis is larger or boobs bigger? Do people think these things when they have been ripped off!
Someone waiting for the new iphone tell me what is so good that its worth sitting outside a shop for.
RANT OVER
I have the HTC Desire, and not having owned an iPhone or used one for a considerable ammount of time my account isnt that accurate however:
It costs £100 more than the HTC Desire sim free and on stock has 12GB more memory.
It has a better screen than the Desire
It has noise cancelling (two mics) (ok, the nexus one has this but desire doesnt )
Limited web functionality - its great in all cases but no flash, the only let down but itself isnt a big deal thanks to the apps: Desire has a great browser and Fennec/Firefox sounds promising, and soon to come full flash support. Smaller screen resolution but big enough.
Apps, Android has 40k, only about 100 are worth using, the rest are crap. Being so many versions of Android and phone specs - it is limited since they dont all work.
iPhone on the other hand has much much much more apps, and a higher percentage of quality apps. This is in general, what is good for me may be crap for you - but, in general there are more quality apps. Second of all AT THE PRESENT iPhone is supported by alot of major companies, each providing apps for their services on the iPhone.
iPhone in my opinion looks better and gives alot of ePeen , a HTC Desire is a standard phone in the eyes of many, where as iPhone 3Gs is sick, iPhone 4G is just godlike.
I do see Android getting better in the apps sector especially as its becoming more supported and on more phones, but at the present iPHone 4G is the best phone.
This would be followed by the Desire.
not any more as they stopped paying out the death benefit that they linked to the suicides. one guy left a note saying he did it so his family would get the money. it seems the death benefits were so good people were killing themselves so their families would get the equivilent of about 2 years wages
I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, death in service schemes specifically disclaim rights to the benefit in cases of suicide. And I don't believe for a minute that any rational person would top themselves to provide two year's wages for their families when they could keep living and provide tens of years of wages plus pension etc...
that's what was reported. actually it was the equivilent of 10 years wages!
http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/09/f...production-to/At yesterday's annual shareholder meeting, Foxconn revealed that it'll no longer be compensating families of dead employees as a move to discourage further suicides. CEO Terry Gou reasoned by exhibiting evidence that showed the money -- an amount almost equivalent to ten years' worth of salary -- was a major motivation for the suicides. One such exhibit was a man's suicide letter that contained the following message for his parents:
"...now I'm going to jump off Foxconn, really leaving now, but you don't have to be sad, because Foxconn will pay a bit of money, this is all your son can repay you now."
