    Just so you know Microsoft backed down on forcing the requirment of Hardware Assisted Virtualization Technology to use XP mode on Windows 7.

    They have provided a patch which you can download here:

    I started a new job recently, and before I joined I asked if I could have Ubuntu Linux on my work laptop and they said yes.

    The other six employees have Vista or Windows 7 on their laptops.

    thats cool they removed the artificial limit on CPU as its Pot luck on trying to work out if the range of CPU you have got has VT or not when your with intel (AMD unless its sempron (that lacked the option) or AM2+ or higher sempron (i think) it has AMD-V all AMD64 cpus from AM2 or even 939 i think have AMD-V)
