Let me choose how I play the single player content, I've paid for it, by all means police the multi-player games. I've used cheats on local skirmishes when I've just wanted to muck about for a while. Blizzard's demand for 100% control over its audience is getting a little stifling.
Legit sites with trainers that only modify single player content should be left alone. If a developer doesn't like them covering their expenses, have the cheats available in-game, Rock Band does it with unlocking all songs, etc. Exploiting glitches to gain an advantage online, I don't accept. Burn them with fire.
I agree with the above! I wont be buying starcraft 2 now because tbh, if i want to use cheats in skirmish then why shouldnt I be able too?
Now dont get me wrong, im whole heartily behind blizzard when they go after people who cheat online and multiplayer etc.
But im not behind them when they target people who use them solely for single player. I would use cheats sometimes in single player games of command and conquer and suprme commander. But when it comes to online ive never cheated in my life.

Not as far as ive found - I dont own the game though so wouldnt know. As far as I know there isnt and people are using trainers from cheathappens (That dont work in MP) to get cheats in SP.
I just dont see how blizzard can justify going after people like this. Multiplayer yes of course but not single player.

Think you missed a crucial point guys...
"Blizzard has recently banned 5,000 players of StarCraft 2, who it believes were using exploits to cheat in the online arena"
"a variety of hacks and cheats designed to modify (and in fact destroy) the Starcraft II online game experience"
" Defendants irreparably harm the ability of Blizzard's legitimate customers (i.e. those who purchase and use unmodified games) to enjoy and participate in the competitive online experience"
So not singleplayer, Blizzard isnt that silly as its not harming the online community and remember Blizzard really does try to make sure its community is stable and much better than other games .
Depends what you agreed when signing the EULA. If you agreed not to modify the executable or run any interrupt programs etc. then you've breached the conditions that you're licensing the game under. It's not like you bought the rights to the program when you buy the game, you just buy the right to use it in the manner described. *shrugs*
Regarding the cheats, there are, there's a load of there here, more built in than I expected actually.

Blizzard can shut the hell up in my opinion. Who died and made them the internet police all of a sudden.
How people play the 'single player' is down to them. If they want to cheat, instead of bitching about it and suing people for releasing trainers (As if blizzard need the money with their WoW revenue ALONE!)
Better still I've had an idea which will stop all these trainers appearing. Why not release a patch and in this patch easily give the players the ability to access the console and type in a word or phrase to get more minerals or vespene gas. Better still give them a new menu system to switch on and off cheats at will so.
(damn.. apparently there are cheats built in and I didn't know when typing this. See.. Having kids can make you a gaming n00b all over again! - Let that be a warning to you all!)
That way, people can still "cheat" their way through single player, and disable these codes when they are playing on multiplayer.
Then there is no need for a banning spree. Then there is no need for trainers and more importantly blizzard, there is no need to sue people and become a troll is there?
Most games have some form of hard coded cheats somewhere in the code, it helps people QA and review the game.
On-line cheating on the other hand should be treated as harshly as possible, I think at least naming and shaming at the least but a couple of days in the stocks in the town square wouldn't go amiss
It didn't actually say anything about the single player game mode - just the online arena - clearly states this. In fact that sentence barely makes sense...really...read it again...
I'm not in total disagreement here, suing people is strong but fair, and you gotta look at it a slightly deeper point on view than just being trolls (if anything your comment was somewhat troll-ish). Firstly - they have a fair point that if people hacking is damaging the community, then people will stop playing if they aren't enjoying it. Which means future DLC and the upcoming releases could be hurt by lost sales, so not an entirely wrong stance to take when viewed from this angle. Yes they have plenty of money through subscriptions and I dont agree with releasing the game in 3 parts, but since they made the bloody thing I think they have a right to protect their interests. If they didn't they may as well bend over and set fire to all their cash!
And lest we forget the hackers are making a fair profit by bastardising someone else's work (whilst doing very little themselves)...i know if that happens with what I do, I get kinda pissed off about it too. And I get even more pissed off when some numpty thinks its a great idea to cheat...but you know, it happens. I am quite pleased that they are doing something about it, something far more effective than what Steam/Valve are.
As has already been said they have made it pretty clear that if you violate the terms of Battle.net then you gotta live with consequences and I dont see why those facilitating the hackers should get away scott free with money in their pockets whilst people have their accounts (rightfully) suspended taking all the punishment. No smoke without fire and all that.
don't forget, you get achievements and unlockable graphics through single player, so cheats in single player will allow these to be trivialised
