After nVidia's 8800/9800/240 line, nothing surprises me.

You would've thought with the flak nVidia got for it, AMD would steer well clear.

But I guess nVidia are the ones with the biggest fanboy camp, so perhaps copying their mistakes is the right thing to do

At least there are some new features in the hardware, albeit minor ones.

it just continues to show that at the bottom end of the market it is just an advertising "number" rather than any reflection on performance

anyone that's serious about playing games knows the difference and wouldn't be buying this level of card anyway, but mum buying a computer for little johnny's birthday/christmas will walk in to somewhere like PC world and see that "this one goes to 11" and be convinced to spend the extra £100 for the same PC as the one next to it

I had a look on Ebuyer and the HD6750 and HD6770 seem to be around the same price as an HD5750 and HD6750.

Unfortunate choice by AMD but they had very little alternative but do it. It would have been better if they had been released as lower numbers, ie the 5770 becomes 6750. They should have taken that option out of it, but didn't.

I thought Nvidia were low to do this, maybe AMD needs to pad their bottom line too. I agree with Jimbo that they should of lowered the numbers but I guess that could cause more confusion.

Re: News - AMD launches Radeon HD 6770 and HD 6750 by 'rebranding' old cards

Sorry to add to this quite late, but (I'm going to anyway)...

So, my HD5750 fits inside my ITX case (SilverStone SG05b). It's struggling with one or two of the newest games with high settings (@720p).

If the 6750/6770 are just rebrands, they don't offer anything new. Can any Hexus users suggest something that would fit in an ITX case and "help"...? (Or am I stuck?)

I have a reference HD6870 in my SG06 which is internally identical to the SG05:

Damn, I would love to have one of those myself...
