I really hope they don't ruin it with DRM!

I think the 6670 is quite similar to the 4870 in terms of performance. Unless it's the lower power consumption/heat/noise you're after?

the only budget graphics card anyone should consider is the gtx460, i recently got served with an ASBO after getting caught publicly fornicating my 2
edit: also those worrying about CPU i wouldn't stress too much - games that are being developed for multiple platforms will typically cater for the lowest common denominator, ie. the 360 and it's triple core
even though it's getting some extra bits for the PC the underlying game will still be designed to stick to that sort of usage, and any extra oomph the PC gets will most probably utilize the graphics cards

so why is there a 5GB difference in space between the disc version and download version?
does it mean every time you connect to multiplayer map it has to redownload the map? or is it that the disc version installs all the language packs and the download one just does the language you have selected on steam or the EA manager thing

Re: News - Battlefield 3 PC specs detailed

The BF3 videos were enough to push me into pulling the trigger on upgrading from a 4850 to a 6950 a few months ago, but after seeing this (not that I'm especially surprised by the requirements) I've got a horrible feeling it just won't be enough...

The extra room could be for extracting file from the disc(s) during install as well.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

I just noticed how silly it is that they provide recommended specs without any idea of what resolution you're planning on using it with. Do they default to 1366x768 or something like that?

I still feel my 6870 may lag a little with high detail settings!... I'm thinking about getting a Phenom II x6 1100T CPU now (i have an Athlon II X4 645 at the moment).

For that price i would probably choose either a Radeon 6950 or a Geforce GTX 560 Ti (you could probably find them cheaper than £200 ).

Maybe an AMD rig as they've cut the prices on all the current AM3 CPU's... You can get a Phenom II X4 965 for around £100 and you can easily find an AM3 motherboard for under £100. Actually i think you can get that CPU, a motherboard and 4GB of DDR3 RAM for under £200

FYI these aren't the actually specs. GameStop got it wrong. It's the exact same "specs" when they were "leaked" a few months ago.

The HD5770 1GB and HD6770 1GB are quite close to the HD4870 in performance.

Also,I think the best value card under £150 is this HD6870 1GB:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-m...x-dvi-hdmi-mdp

Aria has had this HD6870 1GB for around £124 a few times in the last few month:

    http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Compo...44533&context=

The HD6850 1GB can also be under for under £120 too:
