That's exactly how AB plays on my HTC Magic as well. Turn off the backgrounds and it gets about 4x better, and pretty much playable. Do your research properly and get a tablet with an 800MHz+ processor, and it's smooth as anything. There' s plenty of 800MHz Android tabs available for < £200 - e.g. Creative ZiiO with 1GHz Cortex A8 core, £190 ...

Archos use 600MHz ARM9 chips as they're targeting the media player market...

The Archos Series 9 looks quite powerful:

True, but they're not in the same price bracket. Archos have done a couple of Atom based tablets as well, and seem to classify their products as either computing (in whcih case they go the whole hog) or media. Their sub £250 Android devices all seem to be targeted at the media player market...

And just to wrap up, I've also found a couple of 7" Storage Options tablets, the Scroll (capacitative, £165)) and miScroll (resistive, £113), that are touting Android 2.3 and 1GHz ARM11 CPUs (of course, ARM11 means no Flash, but then they're both well under £200)...

And dammit all, I've really tempted myself with those... *sigh*

Argh, dammit more. You can buy a 16GB 7" Ziio direct from Creative for £180. Why do I do this kind of research when I have no money?!

I keep doing the same, just have to resist. Im convinced its just not the right time for android tablets yet, they are maturing quite slowly but they are getting there. Problem is i would like one just to play around and throw roms on there but the best ones for that are the expensive ones.
Quite looking forward to what the Sony one brings to the table with regards to build quality though

I guess I must just be an iDiot.
That's what I exactly said in my first post, cheap Android tablets struggle with games/media playback.

Even iDiot would say that <£150 for a "slightshow" device is too much so you would have someone to agree with here.
