awesome i`ll go buy it!! oh wait.....Incidentally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 goes on sale shortly after Battlefield 3 on 11 August, 2011.
think you mean 11th november.....
I'll be getting it on pre order, but I still need to have a look around to see where is best to get it from...
I want the free expansion offer, but I'm not really bothered about getting early unlocks on weapon perks.
40 Million for Mario !!! Christ...
I had to share that bit of info around the office too. 40 million and still not beaten. With the huge increase in gamers compared to 20 years ago, you'd think that figure would have been beaten...
Anyhoo, back on topic, MW3 will suck compared to BF3. MW 1 or 2 were no where near the quality of their BF counter parts. I think what made the Modern warfare series popular was the fact they were simple to play compared to Battlefield series - urgo appealed to console owners - urgo have more gamers interest. But as console gamers want more indepth gaming, the BF series will appeal more.
Already got this preordered from Tesco online taking advantage of some of their summer money off discount codes - £23 or so for the PC Limited Edition
Have they fixed the EA disconnect problem...
but will they use any of that money to iron out the myriad of bugs it's going to have? I'm still incensed by the shockingly obvious bugs left in BF2 and BF:BC2, the abominable server browser and the utter lack of updates that EA seems capable of providing...
With that said, their sound engineers are second to none, and I fully expect the sound in BF3 to continue the amazing quality they've achieved in their previous titles.
I won't start on the whole steam issue though, other than to say I haven't pre-ordered, and am pretty unsure that I'll even bother playing it as a result of their stance on that. It appears, however, that I *am* in the minority on this one!

Well, there is no server browser in BF3. It's all online. Which (I think) sucks.
I'm also annoyed that it isn't on Steam. Steam is the reason I bought into PC gaming. All my games safe in one location, and at good prices. I don't want the Digital Distribution market ending up with each publisher having their own (extortionately priced) store.
Fortunately for me, I'm not getting BF3 on release. I'm waiting for my new PC which will be around January time. So maaayybe Valve and EA will come to an agreement? Also, I'll get it for less than the FORTY POUNDS(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) that EA are charging on origin. £40 for a DIGITAL PC copy? WHAT?! That's more than Xbox retail versions are going for!
Funnily enough, that's pretty much the sales pitch that the guy in my local Gamestation came out with - basically if you can only get one, then buy BF3, and ideally buy it for the PC rather than a console version. He was also saying that the MP on BF3 is "streets ahead" with rewards for cautious, intelligent team play, rather than for accomplished run-n-gun singletons. That, to me, sounds like a major plus point.
I'm not sure whether to take the plunge or not - my usual problem of not being clanned up (everyone get the violins out) so I'd have to go online in the hope of finding a group that needed some "dead meat", (plus - if I got it on the PC - then I'd have to get a headset too - unless there's a way to use a mobile phone headset - I've got a spare one of those).
Think I'll probably end up chickening out and getting MW3 - mainly out of a sense of Duty, (I've got all the other ones), unless there's a convincing reason out there to go BF3*. Although, I just started Deus Ex on the '360, so I'm guessing that I'll be in no hurry to get a new title for a while.
(* Got a fairly good spec PC, and an Xbox, so platform choice isn't a big deal)
so your not buying it at all then
