Maybe I'm being as dumb as a post, but I fail to see why I'd want this device over one of Samsung's other tablets - the ones that not only come with a larger screen, but also a more up to date OS, oh, and are £100 cheaper to boot.
Only thing I can see that you're getting for the money is the better (but still smaller!) screen and a slighter faster processor.
This is a smart phone - not a tablet.
ok, so 3 weeks after i settle and get an S2 thinking this wont be out till January, and BAM! 1st of november release date...
So, Anybody want a brand new S2 in white? For sale now!
Wow (shadowsong): Arthran, Arthra, Arthrun, Amyle (I know, I'm inventive with names)
really, 5.3" screen. For me a phone this size struggles to fit into the category.
I wonder whether this is going to have a pentile layout and as such not be anywhere near the quoted resolution. My SGS looks damned ugly if you look a little too closely as white lines end up with jagged edges, I suppose with a high enough resolution on a small enough display it might look like anti-aliasing but with a low pixel density (233ppi on the SGS) it looks ugly.

It's pentile as the screen is HD Super AMOLED if it was RGB stripe it would be Super AMOLED Plus.
Probably open a can of worms here, but how does this stack up against the 4S?
Don't seem to be that many comparisons of the GN v's the 4S - although Google and you'll easily find a couple of GN v's 4 comparisons, e.g. http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...-best--1008681 or http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/sams...hone-50004990/.
From what I've seen they're pretty darned close - certainly too close to declare a unanimous "winner". Instead it's going to depend what your key factor is. As an example, for me a 5"+ phone is probably too large, so I'd tend to go for the 4S. On the other hand you might like all that neat tablet-style stuff that Samsung advertise for the Galaxy Note (check out the video at http://www.samsung.com/global/micros...html?type=find the stuff from 30-60 seconds I think is brilliant). And then - of course - there's the small matter of the price of the GN, plus I guarantee that the 4S will be easier to get from a teleco.
Just struck me as weird that pretty much every story on Samsung since about 2-3 months ago has a comment from someone saying that they're waiting for the SIII. Just hope it doesn't turn out to be as big a disappointment as the 4S was for the Apple crowd (who were expecting a "5" instead). And that's said as someone who's planning on the SIII for his next mobile.
