Yeah, so you'd think. I've only just bought Arkham Asylum, and that's still annoyingly unstable. The only way I can get it to start is if I've freshly rebooted my computer, otherwise it crashes straight away on startup. And then I suffer in-game crashes that mean I have to restart my entire machine before I can then restart the game again. Sooooo annoying.

I can't actually believe how bad Games for Windows Live is... basically if I click on the GfWL overlay before a certain point in the intro/loading sequence, the game crashes. GfWL offers literally no benefit that I can perceive, other than making the game unstable. And I won't even get into how ridiculous it is to have two overlay systems (GfWL and the Steam overlay - which is at least useful).

Yeah and they're probably the ones who think GFWL is a good idea.

What's that you say? Loyal paying PC gamers getting the short end of the stick? Stop the presses!

Forgive me for being pedantic - it's an illness - but I think you'll find that with most sticks in conventional Newtonian space both ends are the same length.

Thanks, cheered me up that. xD

And I agree, maybe we should start pedants anonymous?

And to meet expectations: I think it refers to using a stick as a method of carrying something on your shoulder - you want the longer part relative to the pivot for better leverage. I could be wrong...

On top of that, a regularly upgraded mid-range PC can often deal with it better. So another win.
That said, I did complain about the presence of GFWL. It's of no use for a SP game since I don't care about in-game accomplishments.

Received my copy but it's just sitting there waiting to be installed, I'd much rather wait for a patch than install it now, discover loads of bugs and not bother finishing it.

Re: News - Batman: Arkham City PC gamers furious with technical issues

For those interested, I bought the game now it's been patched. The DX11 stuff does now work. Well, sort of. After about 10 mins of play I get random intermittent hangs each lasting a few seconds, and occurring very regularly (several times in a minute). Basically results in the game being unplayable.

I've since switched to DX9 only, and had no problems. Kinda disappointed, but even in DX9 only it's still a great looking game.
