The 6670 is currently $80 on newegg and by next year it will be even cheaper. it is considered an entry level gpu equal to today's integrated graphics, by next year amd's apu integrated gpu will be way more powerful. mobile devices will soon be able to have direct x 11 hardware around the same time. it will be funny if mobile devices will be more powerful than the next Xbox!

while consoles maximize 1080p @ to get 60 frames ( from 720p @ 30 frames ) pc enthusiast will jump onto 4k resolution @ 120 frames with the proper hardware! ( they are already enjoying eyefinity 6x 1080p)

sorry i just checked you can get a 6670 for $55 after mail in rebate, so the next xbox will have a almost 3 year old entry level gpu at launch? lol

Im not so sure, since the xbox 360 came out, its been so many years now and technology has moved very quickly. I don't think 6 times as powerful is good enough if its out, say, in 2014.

surely by now you would think that they would be able to make a plugin gfx card that you could upgrade rather than have to wait 6-7 years for the new model to come out. Surely that makes sense??

That's called a PC. Relatively fixed specification is the main purpose of a console.
