Not long until we hit 50p per gigabyte!
Very nice! Going to be upgrading next month so hopefully in the next three weeks we might seen even more reductions. Heres hoping for under the 50ppgb
Thanks,
Sacred
This is an amazing deal but ive read on other forums that they have quite a thew bugs maybe a bit of research is in order
I have the Intel 330 120gb, not seen any issues yet
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
i have these drives - really fantastic
Brought one as soon as I saw the sale be listed on the Facebook page, my first SSD, can't believe the price of it.
Do they really improve loading times as in map load times?
Well, I doubt most of us will use it as a single drive in their rigs anyway. Most likely , their Windows and programs and games will be on the SSD and all the files like movies, music, etc. will be on a Hard drive.
Once you have used SSDs , your life will never be the same again. Things you will notice are :
- Super fast Windows boot up and shutdown times
- Super fast opening of programs
- Super fast saving while in a game
- Super fast AL+TAB out of a game
- Fast searches
- Quiet > no HDD seek noise, no issue of sacrificing speed if you want your HDD to run quiet
- Slim
Here's a very good review of SSD vs HDD by Nilus of NCIX

When I built my new rig two Christmases ago, I spec'd a 64GB Vertex 2E as an OS drive. I've never regretted it and it's proven to be (touches wood) very reliable. Although I could really do a bit more space, so maybe one of these larger Crucial or Samsungs that everyone here seems to be able to get for mere pennies would be a good purchase?
I've still got programs and user data on "normal" disk and the difference in access time between the progs that have forced themselves onto the SSD and those on the HDD is noticable. Soon as 512MB SSD's come down to a price where I don't need an investment banker's bonus to be able to afford them, then I'll be moving to SSD for all main storage (keeping a 2TB HDD for holding backups).
+1 on this, although I'm not fully "SSD enabled" yet - as said above, I'm still on HDD for most programs and user data.
Hmm, just looking at my Ubuntu box - that's currently got a 256MB HDD in it, but there's less than 25% used - so I'm thinking that "downgrading" to one of these 120GB Kingston SSD's might be a good idea. Or do folks think that the Crucial M4 is a better bet? One complication I've got is that because the Ubuntu system in question is an old Dell laptop, it's not going to be able to make use of SATA600.
You never really notice how fast your SSD systems are but you do notice how slow your mechanical drives are!
(At least that's been my experience.)
I'm a big fan of SSDs, my first was a G.Skill Falcon 128 some years ago and I've been a convert ever since. I've been on a bit of an M4 buying spree recently (thanks to HUKD) and have just snaffled up a 512 gb version otherwise I'd be dipping my toe here - great price.
I'm confused by people waiting for 500+Gb SSD. My 256Gb M4 holds all my games, programs and the OS with space to spare... I wouldn't put anything else on an SSD. Pictures, videos and other media are wasted space on an SSD.
I just bought a 256Gb Crucial M4 so I'm not looking for an SSD at the moment. I'll need the price to be below £30 for 64Gb SSD's before I suggest upgrades to my family.
