Re: News - PEGI games ratings legally enforceable from today

Can we stop all the complaining about video games being too violent now please... if pegi says 18+ Then your 8 year old COD loving son shouldn't be playing it and someone broke the law if they bought it with the intention of giving it to him (counts to 10 and controls breathing... And relax)

Re: News - PEGI games ratings legally enforceable from today

I don't agree with PEGI ratings being enforceable.

The BBFC does a great job of classifying games, and I see PEGI ratings as more of a "you need to be X to understand this" not "you need to be X not to be traumatised"

Not only did you have a right not to sell it, but if it was age restricted based on the BBFC classification, I believe you had a legal obligation not to sell it and theoretically be prosecuted if you did.

To the point of the original story though, I don't see the point. The BBFC classifications were already legally enforceable, and a ridiculous number of patents ignored them. What difference week this make other than to introduce some lower 7+ type banding?

This won't make any real different. It is mostly up to parents to make the decision.

Sheesh, finally. It's been so long that I stopped caring. Took them three whole years just to make this legally enforceable...

I never understood this notion. What about the PEGI ratings as opposed to the BBFC ratings makes you think that?
