Not necessarily, the tough glass may well shrug off small knocks/drops that would deform the metal thanks to its hardness. Yeah trying to prevent the glass coming into contact with anything hard would be beneficial but the case just needs to be tougher; I find it laughable that something so expensive has so little thought put into durability (unless it's deliberately made that way OFC), and as for making the back of out glass too...

I must say, the outer faces on the edge seem very cheap. It is most likely the photo, but it looks the edge of my galaxy ace, which is cheap.
