Compared to how much I actually want to spend on a phone I guess! Maybe I'm behind the times

Yeah, sadly Apple have created the £600 as a norm. Hell I remember saying no one would buy the original iPhone, in the UK it cost upwards of £1200 with the minimum contract etc.

It will be interesting to see what the real price of the 920 is, because with the 800, t-mobile sold it to me for an upfront £60, then £20 per month, for a 12 month contract. Which was well below the RRP. So with any luck we might see it cheaper.

makes a £300 every two year video card habit seem positively cheap

As said, the wider default focal length on the 920 will help its case. Doesn't really make it unfair though since that's the focal length most people will use most of the time.. however for a true comparison of 'just' the image stabilisation (instead of overall image quality), they would be better off trying to approximate the same focal length before starting the test.

Until they slashed it to £169 unlocked - the only time they did so probably because 3G was becoming the norm and not having it probably gave people a pause (and prevented sales in some countries like Japan which has no 2G infrastructure) - but at that price it was a total bargain IMO.

Still, having access to the HK market does mean that I won't have to pay quite as much as I would in the UK (£445, £509, £573 according to capacity).. even though prices have gone up since the 4S (£406, £470, £533). Having looked at the S3, prices is similarly reduced, although it wasn't the case when I looked it up not that long ago (prices were close enough not to be the decisive factor). It's kinda odd though, as back during the heyday of candybar phones, I seem to remember that HK wasn't such an attractive place for mobile phones.

It was in the artice, last paragraph. Unless I dreamt it?!!
This is probably some company trying to get some extra cash by being there first for the pre-orders, Id expect at least a £20 drop from that if not quite a bit more

Whats sickening is that they used digital zoom to make the oneX look worse

The Lumia 920 obviously the winner here. That Engadget guy reminds me of that bad guy out of Mad Max 2!

Re: News - Nokia Lumia 920 vs Apple iPhone 5 video stabilisation test

There are plenty of comparisons online now of these four phones regarding Photo and video quality. Nokia do seem to be on a winner with the quality of their lense, surprising the S3 is the poorest in most tests.

If you'd read up before posting, you'd probably have seen this isn't true.

Its zoomed in more because of the focal length and digital stabilisation.
