Hey guys, why not just make a phone with a bigger battery, if I can squat 95kgs, I can sure as hell carry a phone that weighs more than a 100grams.
Is that with or without your bodyweight? But yeah, I agree, they can be heavier and slightly thicker, but i guess the majority of people who buy phones lack thinking skills :/ -

Phones need to be stylish like the old school nokia days, i mean, htc phones look like someone cut up a used tyre, spray painted it and put a piece of glass on the top :/ - hands down nokia 8800 is the most beautiful phone yet.

I don't mind a 10mm thick phone if it means a good battery life.

PPI is just a marketing gimmick.

I'm pretty short sighted so I often do hold my phone just inches from my face and I find it hard to fault the 256ppi of my HTC Sensation (4.3" 960x540). Even if the screen size is 5" I don't see the need for more than 1280x720.

It's Apple's fault with their Retina thing forcing the numbers games, but even they seem to realise 264ppi is quite enough for a 10" tablet and 326ppi for a iPhone. There is also a lot more to perceived screen quality than pixels, see AMOLED controversy and recent comments from Microsoft engineers.

It's the same as "how many inches has my TV got", many people just buy the biggest number they can when really they should think about how far away from the thing they actually are and whether it will make any difference or even be counter to a good experience.

That battery is pathetic for a device like this. Its typical HTC not learning from all their past battery mistakes. The Note 2 which is not much bigger has 50% bigger battery. Also LTE/4G drains the battery even more...Stupid

Re: News - HTC announces 440PPI superphone, take that Retina display!

I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus, fantastic phone, but the display absolutely mullers the battery. So much so that even where I live, with very patchy WiFi and virtually no GSM signal (so the phone ramps up its amplifier, wasting power) the display takes >80% of battery usage. I was getting 8 hours a day tops until I realised that I could make the display turn off after 15 seconds. Hey presto a day's usage. The radio power really doesn't matter any more...

Microsoft had an interesting point about this, the percieved display quality isn't just resolution, it's based on the MTF. The surface tablet has a lower resolution than the iPad, for instance, but people percieve it to have more detail because it does a better job of filtering reflections amongst other things. Simply having pixels too small to see doesn't really matter, there are other things to worry about.

Great spec, though I wonder whey they couldn't make it 32GB so that it can fully match other market leading smartphones with the help of microSD. I am also concerned about battery life.

One common criticism of the ARROWS X F-10D (http://www.fujitsu.com/global/news/p...120718-02.html - I know a few people with it) is that the battery life sucks. Granted the arrows has a smaller battery, but it also has a smaller screen and lower resolution. On the other hand, the IPX5/8 is quite sexy for the outdoor type. I hope that rather than race to make the thinnest phone, every manufacturer would implement some form of water resistance.

Must be the same panel used in the Oppo Find.

Quite ridiculous that phones can get this resolution, but if I want to buy a desktop monitor with a higher res than 1080p, I have to pay more than what these phones sell for.
