Upside of course is those trying to pick up iPhone for cheap on the secondhand market will get a good price.
i have to agree with you on this one. If Samsung and Co can release phones every few months, why can't Apple?. Do Samsung users change phones every few months??? unlikely.
Your not forced to upgrade every 6 months or so and it is afterall a private company not a charity, they have to move with the times and if that means more phones then so be it.
Everyone has their reasons to like or hate Apple, good for you but if you always take a one sided view on things that is very naive and narrow minded.
The article is also rumours and not based on any solid facts. If I believed every rumour, Manchester United would have Lionel Messi and Christiano Ronaldo by now.

When I saw the iPhone 5 launch, I couldn't help feeling that Apple had plateaued out and didn't have a innovative response to the competition. Now after the "iPad 4/iPad spec bump", Apple appear to be thinking this themselves and this "iPhone 5S" rumour could easily be true, in my mind.
After the iPhone 5 launch, a number of analysts were predicting iPhone 5 sales to be higher than the actual sales:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technolog...t-targets.html . Looks like the Apple marketing can influence even these people!

Actually a lot of that prediction might have been correct.
There is currently a massive waiting list for the iPhone 5, its sold out all over the place, apparently due to issues in manafacture they just can't simply make enough.

I think my head has been in the sand to much over the 'scratch gate' and the fact it's anodized aluminium. They must be doing something seriously wrong (perhaps they've got the thickness to substrate ratio all wrong). As AA is in general much tougher than bare alu and most other paints!

I think the problem is that as Apple releases far fewer devices this is a subtle way of saying that they actually messed up with the iPhone 5. A quick word with a friend of mine in the mobile business seems to point to Apple actually making a design that is quite hard to put together without getting scratches and nicks in the casing and they are having yield problems in other areas too. Re: Samsung and others they tend to release far more designs, but cover the whole of the market so overlapping products is less of a problem. The iPhone is pitched as the best device, so the people who care will be fed up if a new one comes out within 6 months as they will have to upgrade to keep their status as the owner of the latest and greatest. Putting aside any sentiments of which phone is the best and other prejudices means it just adds fuel to the argument of Apple not getting this launch right. For whatever reason this marks a serious flaw in Apples strategy which has been pretty much spot on previously...

what da!!! already - thank god i am no isheep.
They'll just put the A6 processor in from the iPad 4 and change the case to one that doesn't scratch as easily.
But really, who did the validation of that case design and missed how easily it scratches?
Yes, I suppuse I should of just looked at the apple store 2-3 week delay for iPhone delivery! There are other things though, like the apple share price fell from $700 after the iPhone 5 launch to $529 today, which like you say, could be the manufacture aspect coming in play, aswell as all that ligitation with Samsung etc.. I can't help feeling there is more to it. Well shares being shares, apple could be at $1000 in a matter of months or years, so maybe it is just a hunch.

The iPhone 5 already has the A6 CPU, the iPads have the A6X which has better graphics processing required for the larger Retina display.
If they do do this, then Apple better be prepared for a bigger backlash. But I'm going to reain skeptical about the whole thing for now. The only plausible explanation is that is is the iPhone 5S, and they are mass producing it now so that they can meet demand. But that sounds far fetched.
Since Steve passed away, it seems that Apple (Tim Cook) has really taken a turn for the worst. New iPad 7 months after the iPad 3, iPad mini & lack of innovation on the iPhone 5.
