Who is paying £300-400 on a console at the moment??

10 seconds on Google and I find this for <£200 and it's a 250GB HDD model complete with wireless controller. They are readily available for less than that new, and far less if you're willing to go preowned (just a few weeks ago I bought a pre-owned one for ~£80 from GAME, who include a year's warranty with all their preowned consoles).

That would be the previous generation, which was itself more expensive when first released (granted, often because they were only available as part of bundles at first). If you are aware of anywhere that is selling PS4s for <£200 (ignoring the idea of them being available pre-owned), I'm pretty sure a lot of people would like to know.

I honestly can't see them (Sony and Microsoft) being able to charge £400 for PS4/XBox720 - especially given the current state of most of the G5 economies. Unless they slap an Apple logo on the side of course... (sorry that was a cheap shot)

And that's something that's bothered me for a while - given that consoles are cheaper and - reputedly - more widespread than gaming PC's, how come the publishers can feel justified in charging more for a console game than one for PC. The only answer I can come up with is that there's some kind of sales tax being funnelled back to Sony/Microsoft on each game sold.

For example the latest Call of Duty is £3 cheaper on PC than XBox, not a lot in itself until you realise that this makes the XBox version 10% more expensive. Although I suppose it could be argued that since the PC version of BOps2 is merely a console port that it is right that it's priced cheaper.

Hopefully if they are using a fusion APU this will lower the cost as they don't need a separate GPU chip.

Hmmm, decision decisions! Do I sell 360 now or wait til 720 is released?
