It was shaithis who first said that Intel were jealous of AMD getting the console contracts, I don't think it is very fanboy-ish to point out that Intel probably weren't gutted.

You are suggesting that people are making biased and uneducated views and quite frankly I find that very rude.

I didn't mean to refer to anyone here, I was talking about what I've seen on the web in general. And I didn't say anything about Intel not being happy if they did indeed lose a contract they wanted?

Edit: shaithis didn't say anything along those lines anyway?

erm this isn`t xbox 1 days when NV were making everything.... they learnt (as did everyone else watching) , and simply licence the parts for MS or Sony to pay for fabbing themselves.... been like that for 10 years now , or you think otherwise? its a WIN-WIN for AMD for the next 10 years.... games WILL be heavily optimised for the architecture , and anyway the tech is dribbling down the food chain already.

next set of Jaguar based laptops will have GDDR5 `on die`. killing anything INTEL can hope to put out.

Intel are so far behind in this field they are throwing BILLIONS and are getting no where - qualcomm are years ahead of intel and AMD saw the light and are moving out of `traditional` desktop. and AMD ARM APU will be along soon enough.

    edit:

    look at POWERVR

they had an `unusual` design video card for desktop

    http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphi...-prophet-4500/

the kyro 2 , when it was good it was amazing but when it was bad it was horrid - and thanks to nv / ati dominance they got out of desktop and went mobile

now , who has amoungst the BEST smartphone / tablet GPU`s?....

ARM AMD APU aka AAA. Hmm, nested acronyms.

Interestingly Adreno used to belong to ATI, and is an anagram of Radeon. Of course that's not to make light of the amount of work Qualcomm have put into it in recent years.

If there was a cheap one available that did Optical to Headphone maybe, but the closest ones I'm finding are £100+, don't really want to be spending that much on sound when it could easily be part of the motherboard, I'd prefer to pay a higher premium for the board. I wouldn't want USB that's for sure, my USB audio experience has thus far been awful.

    Hey,

I'm in the market for a new machine very school (need a new Ultrabook).

Will new models be available on launch day, or shortly after? Updated X1 Carbon / XPS 13 / MBA would be awesome!

    Cheers,

    Su

Re: News - Intel Haswell CPUs to be officially launched on 3rd June

    Next year we're going to see DDR4 rolled out for the desktop. Considering the speed of DDR4 is starting at the top end of DDR3 much as DDR2 to DDR3 did. Are we going to see much improvement? This had me thinking;

Do haswell have a DDR4 controller onboard?
Did intel say they were stopping the tic toc strategy?

Assuming its no no then the toc will need a whole new chipset and ram and be even less backwards compatable than what intel has been doing now.

If its no yes then an equivelent tic toc will have to be implemented although the toc will be a memory mobo switch.

Am I thinking too far ahead?

    £200 for a 4670k and £287 for the flagship 4770k.

Are they letting you OC four bins up on the non-K still?

Re: News - Intel Haswell CPUs to be officially launched on 3rd June

While browsing on my usual price comparison site yesterday, I noticed that they've added the Socket 1150 category and already had 2 CPUs listed.. (i5 4570 and i7 4770K)

    http://geizhals.de/?cat=cpu1150 (Google translated version)

The i5 4570 has one shop listed (A-Com) that apparently has it in stock already.. days before the official launch

edit: Two motherboards too (ASRock Z87 Pro3 and Gigabyte H87-D3H)

    http://geizhals.de/?cat=mbp4_1150 (Google translated version)

Well people have certainly been getting their DDR3 to run very fast on Haswell. There is official support for 2.93GHz DDR3 and people have achieved up to 3.32Ghz.
