Nice move by BT, Skys pricing for the sports channels are outrageous for what you get.
Good news, though I can't help but feel that smaller isps are going to be hit by this.
I have BT's TV box, but got absolutely no interest in sport, can I get one of their other channels for free instead?
I have heard that the BT box isn't very good for channels. I was looking at thisba few months back and ended up getting sky.
Maybe this is a way to improve the packages.
The BT box is basically a freeview box with nice extras, my dads got the youview model that BT is trialing at the moment and its really nice, content is either standard freeview or is on demand . If your with BT and want an improved TV experience its worthwhile and this sports deal really adds some value.
But if you want more tv content in your monthly deal then Sky is the way to go tbh.
Was probably going to get infinity when I move as little competition otherwise if you want FTTC. No interest in sports however so wishing they'd offer something else to those of us who won't use the service and would rather have a cheaper service.
Very impartial and such easy reading.
Contract is up with VM and I'm looking around, and must say I'm tempted with this. My problem is the BT website... it's crap! If I go through the search directly, I get told that my house has fibre availability, yet when I try to build a package, I only get normal broadband (which from BT sucks since I've had it in the past!)
Oh, and then there's the telly addict who is my wife.... don't know whether she could survive on the reduced channels!

How about instead of offering something for (allegedly) free, instead they do not buy any Premiership matches and decrease the cost of line rental and the broadband packages.
More people are not interested in watching football than are interested in watching it.
'this is the first time in 20 years that weekly live matches from the Barclays Premier League will be free to watch.'
Yeah. Free to watch in the same way that games on Sky are free to watch, as long as you pay the subscription fee. If it were free to watch I could just turn my TV on and watch without needing to be a BT customer.
Anyway, nitpicking aside, it is a good deal if you take up the broadband. I'm hoping this ends up being a good thing for the consumer and forces Sky to bring its prices down.
I've signed up to it, and if you sign up before August then you get the HD BT sport channels for free too. I didn't sign up for football or rugby or any of the sports listed in this article though, I signed up purely for MotoGP
Will the BT sport channels be available on other platforms? i.e. ESPN is currently free for me on Virgin, will it continue to be, and will the other BT channels come along as well? Or is it just Freeview they'll be available on? Or just the BT Vision box?
