    So it's just me that thinks it looks really tacky? Mind you, I've always gone for understated options when it comes to PCs.

    No. Black and gold is tacky but you can fix it with a windowless case.

    wouldnt paint slow the transission of heat from the heatsinks though? or do they use special paint? i prefer the copper look tbh anyways

    Looks pretty cool I think they might have gone a bit far with the gilding though it's a bit too gold if you ask me I like the way asrock does it like in the ASRock Z77 Extreme 6 board it just has hints of gold which look great.
