UK S3's DO have a 2 year warranty - at least according to http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/wa...Information.do

And why wait for 2 years to root it, if that's what you need* to do. (* no point rooting a phone unless there's a reason - like debloating, Titanium Backup, etc - to do so)

Couldn't you just do a factory reset install (and maybe run Triangle Away) to return it to stock if you've got to put it in for warranty service?

So you did things expecting to get the ICS behaviour (because it looked right) only to have them fail.
Not that I'm saying for a millisecond that TouchWiz is perfect, because it manifestly isn't, but it suits me better and I find it's closer to that "stock" Android feel. And judging by the number of hits you get for "remove htc sense" I'm not the only Sense-naysayer.

Of course, the S4GE (is it just me, or does that look like "sage"?) has the stock Android experience so that's going to suit a lot of people. For all my liking of TouchWiz I'd like a stock experience more, but just CBA'd to deWiz my S3 at the moment. Although if Samsung's updates keep slowing it down then I'll be tempted.

Erm, yes, SE Xperia X10 - and found the UI after the ICS upgrade to be pretty reasonable albeit a bit on the "oh-my-god-why-won't-you-do-SOMETHING" slow side. And I liked their UI (UXP?) more than Sense too.
That's what I'm getting at Timescapeā„¢ is slow as a slow thing...

I think he's getting at that if it dies before de-rooting? (made up word alert)

Well I just don't wanna void the warranty when it has a lot of time left incase something happens. It's a shame that the warranty even gets voided from this. I had the impression that this is what Android is all about. It's a bit nazi from the phone makers really. Anyway, don't wanna take this to far off subject. I knew there was some kind of program to aid with this sorta thing. I will search that one you mentioned. Thanks

    Link time:
Chainfire's Auto Root for the S3
    and
Triangle Away (which, I hadn't realised, is actually usable on a lot of Samsung devices - both phones and tablets)

Was going to PM you these links, and then realised that perhaps others might be interested. Can heartily recommend Chainfire's method - I'm no great phone guru but if I can manage it then it must be straightforward. Although the first time you do it is pretty nail-biting! I've been running my phone rooted since about the second day I bought it (which was when they came out in the UK) since I wanted to use Titanium Backup as my preferred backup method.

Haven't bothered with Triangle Away as I figure if my phone is borked enough to do a warranty return then either I'll be able to reflash a stock ROM else it'll be so knackered that doing T.A. won't matter (or work even!)
