Nope. I think we'd all be better off eating a bit less meat instead of getting to the point where we have to make it in a lab.

This isn't a world hunger issue like GM rice and such

I wouldn't touch the current stuff they produced, as it sounded horrid. However, if they ever do manage to produce a decent meat in the future, then there would be no reason to avoid it.

Nope, I'd rather have to shoot a cow to eat my meat.

Re: Features - QOTW: Would you eat a lab-grown burger?

    If it tastes good, yes.

The whole thing is missing the point though - people need to have a lot less children. There are far too many people already. We should be aiming for fewer people with enough resources to share sustainably, plus enough space for nature, rather than this kind of abomination.

I'm glad that you said this. I wanted to, but figured I would get singled out. I wanted to quote this:

And ask what madness this was. Whom, of sane mind, thinks we need even more people on this crowded planet? Unless we're breeding them for food. We really need to start controlling population. I'm not saying we go kill a bunch of people, but we need to regulate births. Lay down a couple of strict ground rules. Like, one child per legally recognized couple, and only couples with adequate resources and a five-year history can have a child. First infraction: Abortion. Second infraction: sterilization of both partners. If the legal child dies, another may be conceived. Free contraceptives. Fully funded care and education of the child.

Birthrate needs to take a nosedive and the only way to do that is to be ruthlessly strict about it.

Weren't they going to start cloning woolly mammoths or something? I just wonder how much methane they produce vs cattle.

No problem with it, likewise eating insects which is another protein source getting press recently, so long as they can process it to look and taste as close to meat as possible.

Cannibalism and vegetarianism have been brought up already, but I was wondering about various religious views on meat. Wikipedia has a list of unclean animals, which includes pigs. Would this enable Jews, Muslims and any other affected religions to experience the wonders of (lab grown) bacon?

If it tastes good I'll eat it. Slap it in a bun with some cheese and sauce and it'll be lovely! Job's a goodun.

They are certainly working on the wrong thing though. I agree with my friend's idea...... They need to make a chickapede!!

I remember reading that Imams and Rabbis had said that they would be fine with Muslims/Jews eating Lab grown Pork.

I would like to know is this suitable for vegitarians, Kosher, or Halal. The other is how healthy is eating such meat, what are the after effects, would it cause canser, would consumption leads to weight gain, and dampens people's emotional responses until they are very apathetic, or would it turn you into a Zombie.
