Re: News - New ‘high end’ iPhone 5S will be available in champagne gold

Just three points to make on this article:

    1) It's champagne gold COLOUR, not actually going to be encased in gold!
    2) It's an optional colour - even Apple wouldn't be stupid enough to make their higher end iPhone only available in champagne..
    3) Whilst it's seen as a chav colour in the UK, in India/Asia golden colours are exceptionally popular and take on a totally different meaning - so in my opinion it's a great move for Apple to make for those countries. Helps to bring back some of the exclusivity that Apple used to enjoy in Europe/America.

You were being sarcastic right?! Cos "Champagne Gold" looks like Lambrini to me.

It's no worse than 4 digit pin codes, which is still the maximum/standard length on too many things. They are far too easy to shoulder surf and/or guess from the finger marks over the unlock screen (i.e a definite smudge over 3,5,6,8 doesn't leave many combos to try).

Hopefully for the general good the backup to a fingerprint reader is a *minimum* 6 digit code (and prevents you using your phone number for the code).

Gold is pretty poor taste.. and ironically this option only began to become available when the gold price started to drop. I'm going to treat myself to a new coloured case for my Lumia 620, I think either grass/Nokia green or yellow for a change from my matte black!

Don't you mean a new battery back? Reason I picked up on that is that el missus has just got a '620 (white) and I was checking to see if there were any other colours readily available. Looks like you can get purple if you go via eBay. Only downside is that most of my searches ended up returning add on cases rather than the battery cover I was looking for (tip: try searching for "CC-3057" which is the part number for the 620's battery cover). Yellow also looks quite funky.

So much for all those "enlightened" folks who poured scorn on Nokia for doing all those "yoof oriented" colour combo's for the Lumias.

Hmm, I was just about to disagree and suggest that a four digit PIN is fine as long as it's coupled with a either a five-tries-and-then-data-wipe option or one of those setups where each retry forces you to wait for an increasing amount of time. Then, a less scrupulous colleague pointed out that the auto-data-wipe option would be ideal for muggers - saves them the trouble of cleaning your dross from "their" new phone. And it was also pointed out that the grease trail also may leave pattern swipe unlock vulnerable too.

So I guess most security options are vulnerable, at least until someone comes up with user-proof biometrics, although I don't think I'd like to go as far as they did in Monsters v's Aliens.

Apple sucks, iphone 4 and 4S are prone to failure due to os 6.1.3. No more wifi and no more bluetooth. I just checked a phone today and the same cause and same sympthome. I have my Galaxy S2 and all I can say is that this phone is rock. Never knows what failure means. Samsung you got me entirely...

It's Ugly. Design minimalism and simplicity replaced with bling. I wonder what Steve Jobs would have thought.

This color reminds me beautiful marantz amps from 70s. I think it is apple attempt to fight new Motorola phones with all the customization available.

Jobsthink: it's gold therefore we'll call it "iPhone Executive Edition" and double the price.

Or just relaunch as the "New iPhone" and call the more affordable ones "iPhone Nano".
