Hopefully MS will wake up and give us a choice over the free game (particularly if it is a digital copy) as fifa doesn't interest me in the slightest, forza on the other hand would be far more tempting

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Whilst I'll remain a big PC gamer, I'll be purchasing a PS4 for sure thanks to Final Fantasy 15, rather, I already have my release-day pre-order confirmed.

Though not an issue for me directly, my brother did find himself purchasing more and more 360 games because the lower cost of the 360 and cross-game chat meant that his work mates, who purchased only for mainstream titles, all owned a 360. Many of these work mates are still looking to purchase an Xbox One because of its familiarity and their positive experiences with Xbox Live, despite the higher price.

On the other-hand, both myself and my brother refuse to touch Microsoft with a barge-pole following their attempts to control our ownership of games. Microsoft may have retracted its statements following popular opinion, but the disrespect for and loss of trust with the common consumer still remains. It's my hope that the combination of an early PS4 US release, people who remain insulted by Microsoft's intents and the lower cost of the PS4 will see a shift in trend six months down the line to favour the PS4, despite the established market secured by the 360; though it's all going to come down to who's easier to sway, friends with Xbox Ones or friends with PS4s.

I'd like to hope so (it'd save me buying a console), but so far all of 2 non-MMO Final Fantasy games have been released on PC, and those were VII and VIII, i.e. over a decade ago.

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Would have been very interested in the XBone, but the lack of any way to use my library of '360 titles makes that a no-no for me. Heck, if I've got to start from scratch then the (cheaper!) PS4 is in with a real shout. Especially if that new controller is better and more comfortable than the lousy PS3 one.

Games for both are too expensive, so instead I'm going to use the cost of a new console to upgrade my PC (SSD for the apps area) and pocket the rest. Just wished Windows wasn't so laggy and slow to boot.

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

Given that it's based upon a DirectX11 engine and requires a large amount of RAM, requiring the abandoning of the PS3, it could be some time before we see the PC port, whilst the firm waits for the PC baseline to pick-up. I also suspect there's been some exchanging of money to keep this console exclusive for a while.

Of the two devices I'd prefer the PS4 as it's APU seems to be a better spec, but in all honesty I want neither. I'm sticking with PC gaming. The wife randomly bought me an XBox 360 a few Christmas's ago. My kids have since taken pity on it and adopted it, as I have been a neglectful owner.

That would seem to make it ideal for the PC. Next gen consoles have the equivalent of about 4gb RAM available to devs, which is less than most gaming PCs do now, and likewise we've had DX11 for years.

My PC is several years old now, but has a more powerful CPU and GPU than next gen consoles, and a quick check shows that despite all my photo editing gubbins etc running, I've got another 8.5gb free RAM for programs.

If these are coming in in November they will be sold out until Christmas due to pre ordering and parents trying to get the last one for their kids. After that the sales will start and the bundles will have 8 games for the price of the console without games included . So in my opinion the playstation is still the best option, even though Xbox will have 50 games at launch, we only generally buy CoD, GTA, GT/Forza, FiFa/NFL, the rest are free and/or traded for the next title. And due to the later PlayStation all the way.

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

I prefer the Microsoft exclusives but the PS3's GPU is a little better and its at a lower price point. Despite the drawbacks i would still probably go for the xbox but microsoft has been pissing me off recently. As a PC user on a MS based system i feel kind of cheated out of these MS exclusives, there is no real reason why they couldn't bring them to PC and on to of that with the launch of the new xbox MS has revealed its intent to screw over gamers everywhere... fortunately they didnt get away with it.

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Neither at present. Though with the amount of games that follow on from games I love on the 360 I might end up with a X-1 at some point. Think it is all too premature to think/decide till after they've been out 6+ months and we've seen what the 3rd party developers do with the hardware (and the prices come down!).

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

I haven't planned on buying one, and haven't followed the news, so no, my opinion hasn't changed. I might have been in the market for an Xbox One if it had backward compatibility.

I may still buy a Wii U one day, if price drops low enough.
