Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

The XB1 team and their parent company just can't stir my emotions in a good way, so no, I'm sticking with the PS4. Not because I have a burning need to play any day-1 content (apart from maybe Drive Club), but because I think Sony have rediscovered their enthusiasm for gaming.

The right people seem to be running the project, and given the length of console cycles, the fair pricing of the PS4, and my curiosity about how this new hardware will stir up the living room experience, I want to be onboard from the start.

Historically early adopting makes almost no sense at all. But the older I get, the fewer opportunities will be left to live life on the bleeding edge. So the PS4 is the closest I'll get to a middle age crisis; I certainly can't afford a Porsche or a mistress!

I suppose I must also say that PS+ is a factor. It's delivering some very good value on PS3, and I'll be interested to see what they offer on the PS4. Resogun looks like a very promising start... especially for those of us who wasted a lot of money on Defender cabinets; it's Defender on extremely pretty steroids.

I don't have a 780 but a 670 and I still think it will carry me across 3 gaming years. To be honest I'd probably rather have a WiiU on the side of my PC for pure fun, with smash bros when it comes out rather than the 1 and the 4 which hark simialar things to a pc.

Still leaning towards the PS4 due to the exclusive titles but won't be pre-ordering. Let the early adopters take the pain ironing out any issues (if any) with the new hardware before I decide.

I still don't know which I'm going for. The landscape is still evolving and I think bigger news could be coming on the XBO front and MS seems to be keeping XBO in the news, which might not be a bad idea, even if the news is bordering inconsequential such as the 53mhz gpu bump (lol). You never know though, Sony might have a surprise or two coming and PS4 appears to still have the upper hand at the moment, pre-order wise.

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

i want to buy pc bits to have a decent gaming pc, but the missus is a console gamer and won't be too happy if i buy the parts as she doesn't game on pc. we'll end up with both consoles, probably ps4 first as it's cheaper. hopefully both consoles will be good. but when nintendo release zelda u, i'll be in the market for a premium wii u as well

Stick with the PS3 and PC. PS4 would be the console of choice but maybe 2014/15 once I've caught up on all the PS3 games I fancied playing!

PS4 if I can afford it... Won't touch a Xbone after being so annoyed by my 360 failed to do anything without gold (Why do I have to pay for netflix and iplayer!). Think I'd rather upgrade my GPU which would be cheaper too although I do like the idea of remote play using my vita.
    Trust

Re: Features - QOTW: Changed your mind on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Steambox it is for me then! One important factor - Steam Sales - I get so many games at silly prices and I still have quite a lot I haven't played.

I don't mean that I would get an actual Steambox console if it came out (unless the price was damn good) but rather build my own. Ubuntu is my primary OS, but I also play on my Macbook Pro as well, so OSX support is good. I also have Windows on Boot Camp so games only for Windows is still covered.

And with Steam cloud being used more and more - I access my games, config across all that? There's so much advantages to Steam it's silly for me to get an console.

Furthermore - Steam make it simple to get a game. Click on a game you want. Buy it. It get downloaded. When it's ready, play it. Nothing more to it.

    Yup...Steambox for me.

Will be sat on the fence taking a look to see how PC gaming evovles off of the back of the console changes and to see if we get a hacked XBO hypervisor for the PC.
