Proudest hack was one of my first - pencil modding an Athlon 2000+ chip into a 2400+

    1. Case modding my ATC-220X with extra intake fans and castors - this change being why I joined Hexus originally! (and I've never regretted doing so)

    2. Mod'ing a cheap Hitachi CD/Radio/Tape combo where the internal mains power block had blown with a disassembled multivoltage adaptor carefully installed in the battery compartment. Wife took it to work not realising that the day she did was also the day that the electrical safety folks were on the prowl. I was amazed when it passed!

    Same here (two of)

To be honest - given my fumble fingeredness and lack of general DIY aptitude - any DIY that doesn't result in physical injury or destroyed equipment is one that I count as a success!

Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...

I don't have much in the way of Technology hacks \ bodges at the moment.
however, on a mechanical front, i have a DIY heat shield on my motorbike that consists of a piece of scrap metal, push bike inntertube and cable ties.
I went all the way to the far side of France with my soft throwover panniers resting on the exhaust. they have a rather nice hole in the side now....
didn't want to cause more damage so i had to be resourceful!
