Problem is that - according to the HDD manufacturers - it's becoming more difficult to squeeze more aereal density out of what we've got now. Which, I guess, is one reason why there's not a lot of 1TB 2.5" drives out there.
On the other hand, I've read an interview with someone from Samsung, who stated that advances in NAND tech, plus economies of scale, meant that we'd continue to see larger SSD's, and current sizes would get cheaper.
From my own experience, I bought a 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD in Christmas 2010 for around the same price that I bought a 120GB Samsung EVO for last month.
That said, I still think it'll be a long while before we see HDD's disappear - especially in the 3.5" size. 2.5" though is more arguable, since 500GB seems to be the common size and that's available already for about £250.
