    Hm, maybe HP learned from the dv6 series? Because between their poor design and Nvidia's 65nm failure those must dv6 are legendarily bad. Although most of that was poor cooling. Mind you a lot of other HPs were equally bad, this guy had this HP Compaq nFarce 7150 laptop which failed and I remember researching it: the serial numbers below it and above it had been offered extended warranty but somehow his was missed. Sure it failed for the same reason but HP didn't think so. Told him to try taking PC World to the small claims court but I don't think he ever did.

    Shame that this was a while ago (I'm assuming) - especially if, as you say, he got accidentally excluded from the extended warranty. Sounds like some tracking system in HP got screwed up.

    If it was a more recent ... oversight ... then there's HP-internal systems that can be used to escalate customer complaints, assuming they've been through the usual "Contact HP" route first. Been interesting for me to find out about these alternate complaint escalation routes - and no I'm not in the PC group, so don't blame me.

    Joking aside, sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience - and pretty frustrating when you know that other folks are getting better/fairer treatment. What's the old saying ... if you have a separate "Customer Service" department then you've missed the point.

    Career status: still enjoying my new career in DevOps, but it's keeping me busy...
